The website allows users to find the information necessary to access your site. Having a website is the central hub for accessing information about your product, service, or information.

Social Media: Social media outlets are constantly looking for ways to increase their advertising revenues. Some outlets such as “Facebook” allow one to advertise by demographic. Age, location, or interests, based who your ad is targeting.

Where one pays for a listing in a search engine, so that way it is seen first my consumers.  This is all for a set price however. The search engine is paid every time a user clicks on the ad, hence pay per click. It may seem the most reliable form of immediate views, but it can be costly and dangerous.

SEO: Utilizes all of the up above methods of display advertising, except more. SEO integrates link building, along with quality content, easy accessibility, and page rankings. How many pages do you scroll through google? Do you even leave the first page? Most people would say no. Nine times out of ten the best answer, or the one your looking for is found on the first page. That is the job of an SEO its the organic result of being ranked on the first page. More users/consumers are bound to draw traffic to your site if it’s first. The SEO’s job is to make sure that your page is ranked, by creating back links, adding images/display, and videos to your site to share with other forms of sharing and communicating.

Offsite SEO is what happens outside of your webpage. Meaning  how to build site rankings through other venues. This requires a lot more work than Onsite SEO, and more time. The main Offsite SEO factors would be:

Link Building: Gains referrals and increases web traffic. By back linking – dropping your link onto other sites. Build content to add to other webpages and drop your websites link. Sometimes this is viewed as “spam”, but done correctly it can be avoided.

Accessing an inbound link, this is done by submitting to website directories. Asking a blogger, or director of a site if your link can be displayed on their site. Offer to create a blog post and in return have your link displayed. Not only does this build your link, but it allows for networking with a credible high traffic site.

Social Media Engagement: Networking your site by using social media is also a great way to build the site. Social media can share the link, and build views, credibility, and traffic. Make social media accounts, and display what is on the site. Use videos, images, graphics, as bait to real people in to read your site’s content.

Social media shares, reposts, and likes are signs of popularity increase. This is due to the value of the information. Having an increase in social media outlets allow users to socially engage with your site. It will increase the position in the search engine system, due to the fact that your site is being socially marketed.

Reputation: Building site reputation is done by both link building, social media, and content sharing. Being successful at link-building and networking to reputable sites will adhere that your site is reputable as well. Social media builds ones reputation as well, because it creates buzz between users. The more traffic created to the site the more credibility is gained.

  • Build website’s content! Make the content comprehendible, if a user cannot interpret the language the search engine won’t beable to depict it either. Information needs to be credible and true. False information can make a webpage unreliable, thus making it less likely to be ranked. Content should be easy to access, hyperlinks, posts, and pages should be displayed thoroughly for users to find. The content posted should be unique, and high quality.
  • Titles and descriptions, riding off of content. Building the correct titles one can easily decide and find what a user is searching for. Titles should be eye-popping, not only to grab attention, but to add an aesthetic to the site. The easier the website is to navigate the happier, and more users will view your site. Descriptions are key, because they briefly explain what information is going to be given. Aka the meta description- which is a brief explanation of what the post/page is about. When determining the meta description make sure the keyword is placed in it! Whether it’s a product, service, or information; the description will interpret what is on the site.
  • URL structure, provides an easy way of finding keywords and sites. The domain name shows credibility, and relevancy. It can make or break if a user goes to your site or not. Focus on the URL slug as well! After a post/page the url shares the focus keyword
    in the slug. This makes it easier for the search engine to depict what your site is displaying.
  • Update, analyze, and refocus! If your building your site updates are taken seriously. Take data and user views, purchases, and sales and analyze. Ask “Is are site easy to access? Are we using correct keywords? Is it SEO friendly?” After take action! Change language, change titles/description, change URLS, and analyze data. Refocus your mission, determine what methods to keep or ditch.

Best Use of Keyword Research


Let’s talk about Keyword Research, most usually ask “what is keyword research?” Well an SEO will use keyword research to determine what words are searched in a search engine most. These “keywords” are then have placed bids, rankings, and stats.

The higher amount your keyword is searched the better it is.

What to learn about Keyword Research:

  1. Google is not the only search engine out there!
  2.  Create new and innovative keywords. By using the same keyword it limits users from finding your site. Thus traffic becomes limited.
  3. Use synonyms of the keyword to help traffic fluctuate.
  4.  Know your competitor. By understanding what your competitor’s keywords are will allow you to have an upper hand. Use keywords that they use, but also use words that they aren’t to differentiate the site.
  5. Don’t forget long-tailed keyword!

Short Tail Keywords: is typically one or few words for a keyword search. It leaves the user room for interpretation. It targets a broader audience, thus allowing more people to see your site.  Example: “Pizza” is a short tail keyword, because it is vague and only one word. If the user was searching “Pizza places in Detroit” would be more specific, and more words.

Long Tail Keywords: targets a more specific audience. Having three or more words, with a distinct meaning. This allows users to be more specific in the search engine, and to find exactly what they need. Example: “Car waxing and detailing in Dearborn Michigan” would be  a long tail keyword.


Funnel the keywords. First start with short tail keywords, and words that are broad for interpretation. Next get more descriptive with you search words. Example of this funnel:

See as the first keyword is broad for interpretation, it can mean taco recipes, restaurants, images, basically open for interpretation. By searching “Taco” First results that appeared where: Taco Bell, Taco Bell’s twitter handle, Taco on Wikepedia, and Del Taco.

Now I search “Taco Stand” a little more specific. This then leads to the yellow pages and yelp; thus trying indicate where there are taco stands. So a little more specific of a keyword, the more specific your results are.

Lastly I look up “Taco Stands in Detroit Michigan”, now on google maps appear and a list of taco stands/restaurants appear. Yes, this is a very specific keyword, and of course it’s easier to find what the consumer is looking for. But what about a harder example?


Cars for sale

After searching “Cars” the first thing that appears is rental cars,, and then a wikipedia description of the car. Not as helpful if I’m looking for a car for sale, or to sell. So I want to buy a car so I look up “cars for sale”, these searches show nearby car sales, and notable car sales sites. Then when searching “gas efficient cars for sale”, Chevy, Ford, and Honda all appear. Thus followed by sites that have informative information on what types of vehicles are gas efficient.


SEO Keywords are words/phrases that depict and describe what is on your website. These keywords are what make it possible for people to find your website through search engines.

This is implemented by knowing your consumer. What are people looking for? Is it your product or service? Is it the information you provide? How are they going to find you? The answer is smart strategic keywords. By having strong keywords it is possible to rank over competitors, thus making it easier for consumers to find your website.
